I just wanted to mention that I just got around to putting Felicity's traveling gown on over her meet shift (nothing else). I loved the dress before and love it twice as much now! My Felicity is a heavier model, so I am not sure if the look will be the same for everyone. I had originally tried the dress over her corset and other undergarments (without the shift), but the dress looked too squashed. While I do like the fabric of the gown, for those who aren't pleased with it, putting the shift underneath gives it a nice substantial look.

I'm still debating on this one. I really wanted it when I thought it was sold out, but now that it's back up, I'm dragging my feet again!!

I know what you mean! On the one hand, I can't stand not to get something for one of our historicals if it is about to retire, and on the other hand I know that we have neither the space nor the money to own each and every outfit and accessory for our growing collection of historicals (between DDs and myself, we are about to have 4 and still have plans for a 5th historical).
This traveling gown in particular seems to inspire strong feelings one way or the other (love it or hate it) because the material is a kind of thin taffeta. Personally, I wasn't going to get it, but I am happy I did. Also, I was surprised and pleased that my sister loved this dress. She didn't really like my Felicity until she saw her in this dress, and she commented on the dress several times. I don't know if this helps !
Why does AG have to be such an addiction !

I'd say- even if you have a glimmer of wanting it, buy it. It will eventually retire, even if it doesn't now, because it wasn't one of the core story items. Then it will be pricey on ebay and if you didn't like it all that much, you can sell it.
See my logic and how I end up with a ton of AG clothes?! My friends and family comment that they rival myself in closet space and clothing- LOL!

Horsemom,
Please don't do this to me. I had already made up my mind not to buy it but you do make a good point. Oh no!! I am so addicted and so easily influenced.

I really wasn't that impressed with the dress (I'm not fond of Purple on Red-heads), but I find myself unable to return it or list it on e-bay.
1) It's part of Felicity's collection, so as a collector I don't want to give it up
2) My daughter loves Purple, and thinks it's beautiful.
So odds are Lissie will only wear it for Katie's birthday, and maybe on other special Katie Occasions.

I personally love the colors, but was very disappointed with the fabric itself. It's a very cheap polyester imitation of tafetta, which Felicity never would have worn in the first place for an everyday dress, and most certainly not for a travel dress! Travel dresses were always made of heavier cotton, linsy-woolsey or wool.
But that said, I still can't part with it. My Lissie is more of an auburn, so it looks pretty good on her. And I love the mob cap fabric and the choker.

Personally, it's my least favorite dress of Lissie's, but in the interest of having as complete a collection as I can (given some high-priced retired stuff I'll never get) I'm keeping mine. I do love the embroidered flowers, but thought the dress would have been nicer in a heavy cotton fabric. The mob cap is lovely and so delicate.
I created my own traveling gown that is in cotton and goes better with her travel trunk (should I ever get it) and her cardinal cloak. It's the green dress in my Lissie album. I keep the traveling gown for when Lissie has spring parties or entertains people.
